Gabions are rectangular units fabricated from a soft annealed zinc coated wire mesh.
      These units are filled with stone and become large, flexible, permeable elements from which a broad range of structures can be built e.g. retaining walls, river bank protection, weirs, etc. Along with mattresses, gabions can be used for earth retention structures; river Mattress are relatively small in height in relation to the lateral dimension of a gabion and are generally used for channel lining. Normally it was supplied in various lengths, widths and heights.      

     In order to strengthen the mattresses, all edges of the stricture selvedge with a wire of greater diameter.

     The possible coatings are HD Galvanized and Glfan(Zinc5%-Aluminum-Mischmetal Alloy wire). For high corrosion resistance, PVC coated wire is available. That is to say, The mesh wire can be depending on the application and the requirement.
